I have a fabulous gay friend whose favorite line is “beauty is power! Beauty is drama!” He makes me smile every time he says those words, as he looks at himself in the mirror and shimmies across the room. What I have come to realize though is that he is right! Beauty, is power! However it is not the physical beauty we all dream about these days, but that inner beauty that shines across and makes you feel attraction to a person shining through.
Somewhere deep inside, we all know this, but in today’s world, our lives seem clouded by sheer illusion. We have been blindsided by images in magazines and newspapers that we think represent how we should look. Those images of girls barely of age, in high-end designer dressers, that women double their age could hardly afford, unless of course they have a rich daddy or sugar daddy in fact. In the midst of all this, we have images of the Kardashians, which every girl on Instagram has also decided she wants to be. So where do we go from here, if you feel like you are just plain ordinary?
The trend today is one of women having surgery that, I really think does not even suit their aesthetics. Overly high cheekbones. Over-inflated cheeks and bum that would even give Nikki Minaj a run for her money. We forget one thing! If it does not suit your body type, then why are you doing it? I have seen so many women with big lips, yet they are classic beauties that look amazing with their God-given assets. Don’t get me wrong. I am not hating and not telling, you to not get work done. What I am saying is, instead get work that suits you, but most of all what about your inner beauty. Being nasty obnoxious or damn right rude just because some guys on Instagram are telling you, you look hot can be deceitful. I have seen many a beauty queen that has ended up jobless and clueless without two cents to rub together.
That brings me to the one thing every woman ( and man ) should cultivate, and that is, “inner beauty”. This type of beauty crosses barriers and touches people. When you get to know who you are and reach out to people in an authentic way, really getting to know who they are, your beauty will shine through. Sometimes you may feel lost in a world of fake nails, fake hair, fake breast, fake butt, fake lips, false eyelashes, fake eyebrows, fake cheeks, counterfeit foreheads, phony chins and the list goes on. You have to remember one thing! They are all human and though they may fake everything else they cannot fake a heart. Most humans want to be and feel needed.
Find things that make you, you! Find the things about you that make you feel good and don’t let anyone break those barriers down. Remember that you will never be the most beautiful woman in the world and everyone has someone better or even worse off. Have gratitude!! Find friends that love and appreciate you, gather them around you. Authenticity is everything. A tweak now and then may be worth it. But remember, inner beauty shines through continuously, don’t try and fit a mold. Find whats unique about you and let us embrace it. Love yourself, and your beauty will shine through most powerfully.
